Abundance and distribution of Lithophaga (Mytilidae) in extant and fossil oysters: taphonomic and paleobiological implications Ameghiniana
Mauna,Cecilia; Casadío,Silvio; Parras,Ana; Pascual,Marcela.
In this study we analyze the abundance and distribution patterns of Lithophaga patagonica in valves of Ostrea puelchana and compare them to those of Lithophaga sp. observed on the fossil species " Ostrea " patagonica and " Ostrea " alvarezii from the late Miocene Puerto Madryn Formation. No specimen of the fossil oysters showed borings of Lithophaga sp. on the interior surface of the valves. This suggests that they were produced while the oysters were still living and, at the same time, that the oyster beds were buried rapidly after death. In Ostrea puelchana the boring abundance was significantly higher for the left valve and, within it, the areas more heavily bored were the umbones and the platform. The same results were obtained for valves of " Ostrea "...

First Indonesian record of Fungiacava eilatensis Goreau et al., 1968 (Bivalvia: Mytilidae), endosymbiont of Fungia spp. (Scleractinia: Fungiidae) Naturalis
Hoeksema, B.W.; Achituv, Y..
The mytilid bivalve Fungiacava eilatensis Goreau, Goreau, Neumann & Yonge, 1968, previously mistakenly referred to as F. eilatensis Soot-Ryen, 1969, is reported for the first time from Indonesia. It lives as an obligate endosymbiont of mushroom corals, particulary Fungia spp., reef-dwelling corals restricted to the tropical Indo-Pacific. Notes are given on its association with different host species, its habitat, its biogeography, and its possible competition with endosymbiotic gastropods belonging to the genus Leptoconchus (Coralliophilidae).

Lithophaga (Bivalvia, Mytilidae), including a new species, boring into mushroom corals (Scleractinia, Fungiidae) of South Sulawesi, Indonesia Naturalis
Kleemann, K.; Hoeksema, B.W..
Bivalve species of the mytilid genus Lithophaga, including a new one, are recorded from Indonesian mushroom corals (Scleractinia, Fungiidae). True associations with live hosts including L. laevigata, L. lessepsiana, L. lima, L. punctata spec. nov., and L. simplex, while specimens of L. malaccana and L. mucronata have been found in bore holes in encrusted or dead parts of infested corals.

LITHOPHAGA NIGRA (D'ORBIGNY, 1853) (MOLLUSCA: BIVALVIA: MYTILIDAE), PRIMER REGISTRO PARA EL CARIBE COLOMBIANO Boletín de Investigaciones
Gómez Soto,Carlos E; Rico,Tatiana; Ardila,Néstor E; Sanjuan-Muñoz,Adolfo.
Lithophaga nigra (d'Orbigny, 1853) is an uncommon boring bivalve that inhabits dead coral skeletons and occurs in the Caribbean Sea and the Indopacific region. One specimen of this species was collected within a dead head of the coral Montastraea sp. in Playa Blanca, (bahía de Gaira) near Santa Marta at 10 m of depth, and it is recorded for the first time in the Colombian Caribbean.
